Pendle Hill
Race to the top of Pendle Hill... or perhaps you should take your time...because at 557 metres (1,835 ft) you'll discover mesmerising views of Ribble Valley and pretty much, the rest of Lancashire!
Pendle Hill doesn't quite make it as a mountain (2000ft is the qualifying height!) but its dramatic history of bygone times certainly makes up for this shortfall.
Dominating the Forest of Bowland AONB, and standing between the districts of Pendle and Ribble Valley, Pendle Hill's history dates back as far as the Bronze Age as an ancient burial ground was found at the summit.
Pendle Hill is far better known for the activities in the 17th Century, as the home to the Pendle Witches. Follow the Pendle Witch Driving Trail (available to order from the Clitheroe Visitor Information Centre) or Walking Trail taking you around the places they encountered along their journey to trial.
George Fox found inspiration here in 1652 to begin the Quaker movement, which still exists to this day.
So perhaps you should try it, head to the summit and see how it might inspire you.
