The Award Winning Borealis Saxophone Quartet of Alasdair Penman, Gillian Blair, Victoria Puttock and Daniel White were formed at the Royal Northern College of Music.
They were formed in 2009 and their main emphasis is on contemporary music. They are currently Park Lane Group and Live Music Now Artists. In 2013 they won Saxophone Ensemble prize and the Trevor Wye Memorial Prize for Chamber Music both the RNCM.
They play for us a programme of eleven works ranging in period and style from J S Bach to Jennifer Higdon’s “Bop”, by way of selections from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story. Ideal music for a summer’s evening!
