SUMMARY:Cyanotype Printmaking
DESCRIPTION:Create magical blue sun prints\n\nJoin botanical artist\, Lisa
Howard\, to learn this early photographic printing technique. Cyanotype su
n printing is fun and easy to learn and in this workshop Lisa will cover t
he basic techniques and processes leaving you with all the skills you need
to develop your own practice. You will also create and take home five pri
 nts\, including one signature surprise colour-pop print.\n\nLisa hand-make
s a range of light-sensitive papers for you to use in the session. She als
o provides a wide range of plants\, pressed flowers and feathers for you t
o print from but participants are encouraged to bring their own items too
as this can make the prints more personal.\n\nNo previous experience is ne
cessary as Lisa will walk you through each stage of the process to help yo
u create beautiful blue prints.\n\nAll materials are provided\, and no pre
vious experience is necessary.\n\nAbout the host…\nLisa Howard originall
 y studied sculpture and photography\, followed by a master’s degree in a
rt history at University College London.\n\nLisa has had a 20 year career
in the cultural and creative industries supporting the professional develo
pment of many talented people and spearheading programmes\, such as the Bi
g Draw aimed at broadening access to the arts and unlocking creativity. Li
sa’s artistic practice is diverse but rooted in the idea of capturing na
tural forms through natural processes.\n\nThis includes sun printing metho
ds such as cyanotype and lumen prints\, monoprinting directly from the sub
ject and tracing cast shadows in ink. Elements of these techniques are bey
ond the artist’s control and are therefore both creatively challenging a
nd freeing\, ensuring each artwork is unique and captures the process of m
aking in the final form.\n\nLisa founded Indigo Studio in order to dedicat
e more time to developing her own artistic work but also as a means of sha
ring her extensive knowledge of creative techniques through a varied range
of botanically inspired seasonal workshops that are accessible to all ski
 ll levels\n\nPRICE:\n£50\n\nHolden Clough Nurseries — Est 1927 — For
 the wonder of plants
