Join us at Clitheroe Castle Museum this October as we take part in the national celebrations for Wool Month, an annual event that highlights the many natural, sustainable and versatile qualities of wool.

This year we’re delighted to welcome the Bowland branch of the Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, who will be demonstrating traditional fibre crafts and sharing their expertise in handweaving and spinning.

Spinning and weaving are traditional Lancashire skills that date back to pre-Medieval times. Come and try them for yourself! Feel and smell the sheep’s wool and try your hand at spinning wool into thread with a drop spindle or a spinning wheel. Then have a go at weaving woollen thread into fabric on a handloom and learn how to tell your warp from your weft. You can explore peg-loom weaving, knitting, crochet and felting as well!

There’s fun for the kids too with mini weaving activities and hands-on woollen sheep crafts.

If you want to chat all things wool or get inspiration for your next creative project then join us at this free event for all ages.  There’s no need to book.  Just drop-in throughout the day.
