Celebrate the Festival of Archaeology 2026 and book onto our special archaeology tour.

Using artefacts found around Clitheroe and our research into the archaeological work done on Castle Hill, we will take you back in time to the history beneath your feet.

Our free tour starts at 11.30am and will take about 45 minutes with time for questions after. Spaces are limited so booking is essential. Please book online to reserve your place. https://www6.apps.lancashire.gov.uk/w/webpage/event-details?eventid=3798917 Alternatively, phone, email or call in at the museum shop to find out more.

Afterwards you can visit our festival hub where we will be celebrating all things archaeological. Meet local archaeologists and experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and share their knowledge. There will be specialists in a range of eras from prehistory all the way to the industrial era, and in a variety of fields like artefact conservation and archaeological technologies.

Find out how community archaeologists are contributing to our knowledge about the Romans in the Ribble Valley, talk to detectorists about how their finds are illuminating untold stories of the past, meet archaeology enthusiasts and see how they get involved in community projects, find out about the conservation work that has been done at the keep, and much more!
